Spring Haven Farm: Chapel Hill, NC

Updated: 1 day ago

This year, I decided I didn’t want a traditional celebration. No crowded dinners. No predictable plans. I wanted something different — something joyful, slightly random, and honestly, something that just felt like me.

So I packed a bag, got in the car, and headed for Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

If you have never spent a day surrounded by goats, let me tell you something important: you are missing out on one of life’s purest forms of happiness.

Spring Haven Farm felt like stepping into a completely different world. No noise, no rush, no stress — just open space, soft grass, and the gentle chaos of curious, playful goats. Tiny hooves trotted everywhere. Little noses nudged for attention. At any given moment, there was likely a goat attempting to climb something it absolutely should not have been climbing.

It was impossible not to laugh.

There is something oddly grounding about being around animals. The goats didn’t care about schedules, emails, or deadlines. They were just… present. Playful. Completely content with the simple pleasures of life — snacks, sunshine, and the occasional human willing to offer scratches.

For hours, I forgot about everything else.No overthinking. No distractions. Just joy.

And honestly? That alone made the trip worth it.

After a day of goat-filled therapy, the adventure wasn’t over. The evening brought a dramatic shift in scenery — from peaceful pastures to roaring crowds and arena lights.

Next stop: Davis Rodeo Ranch in Archdale, NC.

Where the farm had been calm and slow, the rodeo was electric. Music echoed through the stands. The smell of dirt and leather filled the air. Cowboys moved with quiet confidence, boots kicking up dust as they prepared for events that most people - myself included - would never be brave enough to attempt.

It was loud, gritty, and wildly entertaining.

But the most memorable part of the night had nothing to do with the riding.

Somewhere between events, the crowd quieted for a moment that felt surprisingly intimate for such a large space. A story was shared - one that completely shifted the mood of the evening.

Jerome Davis, a champion bull rider, had suffered a devastating accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down.

In an industry built on physical strength and performance, many of his sponsors walked away. Contracts ended. Support disappeared. The harsh reality of professional sports took its course.

Except for one.

Wrangler stayed.

They didn’t distance themselves. They didn’t quietly fade out. They continued their partnership, standing behind him when it would have been easy and perhaps expected not to.

It wasn’t just a sponsorship story. It was a loyalty story. A humanity story. A reminder that integrity sometimes reveals itself most clearly when circumstances change.

In a world where support often feels conditional, that kind of steadfastness is rare.

And deeply moving.

By the time I headed home, I didn’t just feel entertained - I felt grateful. For the experience, for the memories, and for the unexpected reminder that character still matters.

And yes… I may have developed a newfound appreciation for Wrangler along the way.
